Your data

Privacy Policy

This page is maintained by the operator of The Bear Necessities and describes how the site handles personal data.

01What data we collect

Account data — when you sign up, your email address and, if you use a social login, the basic profile details that provider shares with us.

Contributions — the product names, verdicts, quotes, links and optional parenting details (such as how long you have been a parent and your children’s age range) you choose to submit.

Feedback — messages you send through the feedback bee.

Local settings — your chosen shop market and personalization (children’s ages/genders) are stored in your browser’s local storage, not in your account, and can be cleared at any time from the personalization bar.

02Why we use it

To run your account, publish and moderate parent recommendations, screen submissions for safety, personalize which products you see, and improve the shop based on feedback.

03Who can see it and who processes it

Published recommendations and quotes are public. Your email address is never shown publicly. Data is stored with our hosting and database provider, which processes it on our behalf. Submitted product names may be sent to an AI service to look up product details and run a safety plausibility check.

We do not sell personal data.

04How long we keep it

Account and contribution data is kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we remove your personal data; published recommendations can be removed or anonymized on request.

05Your rights and the controller

You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, a copy of your data, or object to processing. Contact the controller, HYPERINTERACTIVE GmbH, at info@hyperinteractive.de and we will respond within the statutory time frame. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

06Cookies, storage and affiliate tracking

Essential storage — strictly necessary to keep you signed in, remember your chosen market, your personalization settings and your cookie choice itself. This cannot be switched off, because the shop would not work without it.

Analytics — optional and off by default. Only if you allow it do we count anonymous, aggregated page and product views to understand which lists parents find useful. You can change your mind at any time: .

No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are set by us. Retailers you visit through outbound links may set their own cookies, including affiliate tracking.

Affiliate tracking happens on the retailer’s side after you leave our site: it may record that the visit came from us so a commission can be attributed, at no extra cost to you. We do not receive your name, payment details or order contents from it, and it never affects which products or rankings you see here.
